SSB CEO Tim Springer at Future Accessibility Summit in Dubai

SSB BART Group (SSB) CEO Tim Springer recently returned from a trip to Dubai to present at the Future Accessibility Summit. This summit supports His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s initiative to have Dubai become an inclusive and accessible city by 2020. The Emirate of Dubai issued Law No. (2) of 2014 which protects the rights of persons with disabilities. In April 2016, a project was announced to ensure all new buildings and public spaces are accessible and that existing facilities are retrofitted for improved accessibility. Section 508 Refresh Timing Confirmed

At the M-Enabling Summit today, David Capozzi, Executive Director of the U.S. Access Board, confirmed the Board is working to publish the final rule updating Section 508 standards by October of this year. The team expects to ask the Board for a vote on the draft text during the July meeting. Once approved by the Board, the final rule will go to the Office of Budget Management (OMB) where the Board expects the review will take 90 days. Mobile Browser Support for ARIA Roles, States, and Properties

Last month I had the pleasure of attending and speaking at the 1st Annual IAAP Access 2015 Conference, including a session I presented on the current state of mobile browser support for ARIA.  After the session a number of people asked me to share the test results and related content which I am outlining in this post.
